‘Stab binding’ is one of the many traditional East Asian binding techniques, which is a method of punching holes on the cover of a book and binding its contents with thread. The thread not only binds paper together, but it also adds decorative details. The thread can take the shapes of letters as well as geometric patterns that are usually associated with this technique. This manual includes a ‘Stitch Grotesk’ typeface for binding. The stitched letters can serve as book titles, although you can choose to stitch other words too. We recommend using scrap paper (like discarded posters and magazines) to reduce paper waste.
