During this After School Club, students designed and constructed a timber truss that was used as a collective swing. The swing is a prototype for the new roof of the STORE STORE BUILD and is successfully able to hold the weight of multiple people.
Students developed carpentry skills and learnt how to design and assess the performance of structures using digital structural design tools as well as physical weights.
This was the first in a series of engineering-focussed After School Clubs, where the students are looking at the design and construction of a dismountable roof.
This project was supported by the Ragdoll Foundation.
