Extruding Plastics was the third workshop in the “Taking a Break” After School Club series. This workshop was guided by designers Attua Aparicio and James Shaw, exploring how waste plastic can be used to create components for a public bench. Students experimented with recycled plastic through extrusion to create new component shapes that could be industrially produced.
This was an opportunity for 15 state school students aged 14–18. The outcome of “Taking a Break” was to design and build a public bench for King’s Cross, exhibited at London Design Festival 2025.
