Modular Encounters took place over two days in May 2025. This workshop was run by Attua Aparicio and Livia Lauber.
Students began by researching public seating design, from history and ergonomics to materials and components. Through a series of design tasks and model making, the students developed a flexible modular seating system to be adapted and added to in the the Taking a Break series of After School Clubs and Summer School.
The outcome of Taking a Break is to design and build a public bench for Kings Cross that will be exhibited at London Design Festival 2025.
