Eggshell Ceramic Workshop will concentrate on a conscious material driven approach to forming objects out of food waste. Traditional resources are finite and expensive but waste is abundant and cheap. By retrieving some of these resources from the disposal stream and reimagining them in new contexts, we can add value to them; spread awareness and finally, revise the common perception about discarded materials. Learn how to use calcareous food waste, eggshells to make simple household objects such as coasters or a key tray. “Eggware” as coined by the tutor is a new technique, similar to ceramic making, developed by combining processed eggshells and a bio binder. Eggshells will be provided by various breakfast cafes in King’s Cross and through a creative, hands- on method we would make compostable Eggware objects from scratch.
