The kitchen can be seen as a stage, where cooking is the performance. During the summer school we turned Coal Drops Yard and its immediate surroundings into the stage to rethink the preparation, serving, and sharing of food. Just as the historical Coal Drops Yard marries new technology with a rich heritage, the project harks back to the romanticism of Dickensian street vendors, combined with the diverse cultures of cosmopolitan London today.
This summer school was run in partnership with Heatherwick Studio and part funded by Camden Council and Coal Drops Yard.
