This workshop is an introduction to the arts and crafts of candy making. During the first part of the workshop, students came up with a storytelling idea around the topic of ‘celebration’ as a foundation on which to base their designs. Through sketches and inspirational collages, ‘recipes’ were created and translated into simple two-dimensional molds to test and experiment with the behaviour of the casting process. In the second half of the workshop, this knowledge was translated into three dimensions by employing the principles of sand-casting, substituting the sand with icing sugar.
