STORE STORE x Barbican: Belt Making Leather Craft

The traditional leather craft workshop is the perfect introduction to making traditional leather goods as well as fashion accessories. This workshop will provide you with the core skills to make leather products but also the foundations to then progress and continue to make leather products for your friends and family. In this practical leather workshop you will be taught how to make a Leather Belt using only traditional hand techniques from vegetable tanned leather. With a maximum of 15 students per course, everyone receives attentive tuition. A set of tools is provided along with a range of leathers, metal fittings and other materials are available for students. Patterns and workshop notes are provided for specialist workshop and a ‘Suppliers List’ for those wishing to continue to develop their range after the workshop.  

To maximise the output of the workshop a leather tool kit will be sent out to you in advance.

Kingsley Walters is originally trained in tailoring, from working with high quality denim he became captivated with leather and leather-craft. He makes practical and durable pieces, utilising traditional hand-crafted methods of Leather, no machinery is involved in the production. All the leather is naturally vegetable-dyed, traceable to source and purchased here in London. Kingsley now runs his own studio in East London and is selling his leather products in multiple shops in the UK.
